Sustainability reporting has become an increasingly important issue as stakeholders seek transparency from the companies they support. Throughout Europe, mandatory reporting programs such as non-financial reporting and Article 8 of the Energy Efficiency Directive have become a part of standard operating procedure for organizations. While primarily a voluntary activity in the United States, fueled by the Global Reporting Initiative, Carbon Disclosure Project and similar programs, sustainability reporting continues to gain momentum and advocates.
